Kathleen Lanfear is the owner and director of Reston Montessori School. She has been a certified Montessori teacher (3-6 year old level) for over 25 years. She also attended the course for Montessori School Management at the Center for Montessori Teacher Education in New York.  Kathy's undergraduate degree at the University of Minnesota was in elementary education with a minor in music.

Kathy has been a member of choruses and choirs since her teen years and is currently a member of the Contemporary Choir of St. Thomas a Becket Church. Kathy trained at Westminster Choir College in Princeton for her certification as a Kindermusik teacher and has been teaching Kindermusik at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels for over 10 years. She is active in the Kindermusik Association and the Early Childhood Music Association.  Kathy completed her level 1 certification in the Orff method of music education at George Mason University. Kathy was involved with the Suzuki Association of Greater Washington (SAGWA) for more than 15 years.  She served on the Fine Arts Curriculum Advisory Committee for Fairfax County Public Schools for 3 years.

Kathy currently teaches a Montessori class in the mornings and teaches music two afternoons each week.
